EOS started its life offline as the Open Source Catalog in November 2006. We were surprised by the demand (over 10,000 downloads to date) and the positive response from both enterprises and the open source community. The demand for updates, additions and conversations quickly became overwhelming and we built EOS to take the endeavor online and provide a greater opportunity for enterprises to connect with the open source community.

EOS has been aquired by OSBF to provide a vendor-neutral and up-to-date directory of open source products as a valued and well-known open source competence center to enterprise users.

Enterprise Open Source Directory

The Open Source Business Foundation (OSBF) is a nonprofit organization with the aim of promoting the use of open source software in the business environment.

An essential part of these activities is to maintain a reliable, trustworthy and at all times neutral source of information for users and businesses alike, providing them with info on open source products and projects, development companies and specialized open source service providers. To this end, OSBF acquired the Enterprise Open Source Directory (EOS), a well-known online community database.

With a fresh design, new content and extended functionality, EOS provides business users with an up-to-date overview of open source software for enterprise use.

Interested open source development companies and service providers can sign up free of cost and have their company or their project listed. A professional editorial team will endeavor to ensure that the information on the site is kept up-to-date, while the OSBF Advisory Board, at the same time, takes care that criteria are developed and maintained for an impartial evaluation of open source products and service providers within a business context.

Interested companies may also support the initiative by taking up visual sponsorship.
